What You’ll Be Doing:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work one-to-one or in small groups with pupils in Key Stage 1, helping them manage behaviour, develop social skills, and engage positively with their learning. You will assist class teachers in creating a structured and calm learning atmosphere, using strategies tailored to individual pupils. You will be a crucial part of the wider pastoral and SEND team, liaising with SENCOs, external agencies and parents where appropriate.
Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone patient, empathetic and committed to supporting children with SEMH needs. You may have previous experience in a similar role or a background in youth work, care, or psychology. A calm and consistent approach, strong communication skills and a genuine interest in pupil wellbeing are essential. Experience within a school setting and knowledge of strategies such as de-escalation or emotional regulation would be an advantage.
