Role as an Autism Support Assistant
As an Autism Support Assistant, you’ll work closely with individual pupils and small groups to help them engage with learning and develop their communication, confidence, and independence. You’ll receive expert guidance from SEN teachers and therapists and gain meaningful experience supporting neurodiverse students.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Supporting students with autism through structured routines and learning activities
- Using visual aids, communication tools, and sensory strategies to support access to learning
- Helping manage emotional regulation and promoting positive behaviours
- Building strong, consistent relationships that foster trust and growth
- Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and therapists
- Participating in CPD and contributing to the wider school community
