Learning Mentor – KS4 Role | Supportive Newham Secondary School

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group mentoring to KS4 pupils
  • Supporting academic motivation, attendance and emotional wellbeing
  • Helping students prepare for GCSEs and develop study strategies
  • Working closely with teaching, SEN and pastoral teams to implement personalised support plans
  • Acting as a trusted adult and positive role model within the school community
  • Monitoring student progress, maintaining records and contributing to safeguarding practices

Ideal Learning Mentor For This Newham School:

  • Graduate or experienced mentor with a strong interest in supporting young people
  • Empathetic, patient, and confident in building relationships with teenagers
  • Excellent communicator who can motivate and guide students
  • Experience in education, mentoring, tutoring or youth work is desirable
  • Committed to full-time, term-time hours from September through July
  • Keen to gain experience before pursuing further training in teaching, psychology, or social care
