Role as a SEN Teaching Assistant

In this dynamic 1:2 support role, you’ll be assisting a boy with autism and ADHD who can present with challenging behaviour, as well as another pupil with general learning difficulties and attachment needs. Your role will focus on helping both students stay engaged in lessons, supporting emotional regulation, and providing a calm, consistent presence throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for the two Year 3 pupils
  • Using behavioural strategies to de-escalate and manage challenging moments
  • Supporting social interaction and emotional development
  • Working alongside teachers and SENCO to adapt resources and monitor progress
  • Offering daily feedback and consistent communication with the team

  • A graduate, ideally in Psychology or a related field
  • Someone with a strong interest in autism, ADHD, and inclusive education
  • Prior experience working with children is preferred, especially in SEN settings
  • A calm, empathetic, and reliable individual who can commit full-time
