Role as an SEN Teaching Assistant

You will be based in the school's nurture room, supporting a small group of seven children with SEMH needs. The focus is on emotional regulation, confidence building, and positive behaviour reinforcement in a structured, safe setting.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Working closely with children with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Supporting their emotional and social development through therapeutic and academic activities
  • Collaborating with the SENCO and pastoral team to deliver tailored interventions
  • Encouraging pupil participation and fostering a sense of belonging and trust
  • Reporting on progress and supporting classroom transitions where necessary

  • A psychology or related graduate (ideally with aspirations in educational or clinical psychology)
  • Someone with genuine enthusiasm and resilience to work with children with SEN
  • Any relevant experience (volunteering, mentoring, etc.) is welcomed but not essential
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a calm, confident presence
  • Availability to start immediately and commit for the rest of the academic year
