Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary Role | Inclusive Tower Hamlets Primary School

 

Are you a compassionate and proactive graduate with a passion for Special Educational Needs (SEN)? This rewarding Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant opportunity places you in a vibrant and supportive Tower Hamlets primary school, where you'll work 1:1 and in small groups with pupils who require additional academic or emotional support.

As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll help deliver tailored interventions, assist classroom learning, and support children with diverse needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language delays, and social, emotional or mental health challenges.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting pupils with identified SEN on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Delivering structured interventions in literacy, numeracy, communication and social development
  • Collaborating with class teachers, the SENCO, and outside agencies
  • Supporting EHCP targets and adapting learning resources where needed
  • Encouraging independence, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour
  • Assisting in the development of a calm, inclusive classroom culture

Ideal Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant For This Tower Hamlets School:

  • A graduate with strong academic background and a genuine interest in SEN
  • Patient, empathetic, and confident in supporting children with diverse learning needs
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, flexible attitude
  • Previous experience working with SEN (e.g. in schools, care, tutoring, or voluntary settings) is highly desirable
  • Committed to full-time, term-time work from September through July
